Mirabel Ting finished as the leading Malaysian at the US$3 million Maybank Championship, carding a one-under-par 71 in the final round to finish tied for 48th at five-under-par 283 at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) on Sunday.
The 20-year-old, who earned her LPGA Tour card this year, said the final round was challenging, particularly with her putting, but was pleased to finish under par.
“It was tough, but I still finished under par, which is a good thing. Again, it’s always tough to see the putts not dropping. A couple of mistakes on putting today; I think that’s about it,” she said.
This was the third consecutive edition of the Maybank Championship, in which Mirabel finished as the top-placed Malaysian. However, she said her main focus was on her own progress rather than on where she finished among the local players.
“I’m just trying to do my best. As long as I did my best, I think my progress was good, and my routine was good. That matters the most,” she said.
Mirabel is now looking forward to her first full season on the LPGA Tour in 2027. She plans to play as many tournaments as possible as a rookie, with former Olympian Michelle Koh accompanying her on the road as her caddie and confidant.

Natasha Oon
Natasha Oon was the next best Malaysian, also returning a one-under 71 to finish tied 56th at two-under-par 286.
Oon felt her ball-striking was good throughout the final round, but believed her putting could have been better. Nevertheless, she enjoyed the opportunity to compete at home and appreciated the support from Malaysian fans.
“Playing the full season on the LPGA Tour has definitely made me appreciate this event a lot more. I realise the time and effort it takes to hold an event, and all the people who come and recognise me. It’s really cool,” she said.

Liyana Durisic
Liyana Durisic closed with a two-over 74 to finish tied for 66th at two-over-par 290. Despite a slow start and some struggles with her ball-striking, she played the back nine one-under-par and was pleased with how she finished.
Liyana, who is heading to the second stage of the LPGA Q-Series, said her opening-round five-under 67 had given her confidence for the next challenge.
“That’s means I can do it, and if I just keep my head calm and focus on missing them in the right spots at the next course, I think I’m all set,” she said.
Kelly Tan returned a two-over 74 to finish tied for 75th at six-over-par 294, while Genevieve Ling recorded the best round of her week, an even-par 72, to finish 76th at nine-over-par 297.
