The Grand Dames of Golf 2024, an inaugural golf tournament for women aged 50 and above, is set to tee off at The Mines Resort Golf Club on November 28, 2024. Organised by the MGA Women in Golf Charter (WIGC) alongside Mines Resort Golf Club, this pioneering event aims to showcase and celebrate senior lady golfers, underscoring WIGC’s mission to empower women through golf.
Avid golfer DYMM Tunku Ampuan Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud has graciously agreed to participate in the tournament, lending her support to WIGC’s vision.
“The Grand Dames of Golf represents our unwavering commitment to promoting golf for women of all ages,” stated Dato’ Merina Gan, Chairman of WIGC. “This tournament is a celebration of senior women in golf, a group that has long been overlooked. We are thrilled to create this platform to foster camaraderie and competition.”
The tournament will feature three age divisions:
- Gold Category: Ages 50–59
- Diamond Category: Ages 60–69
- Platinum Category: Ages 70+
Participants will compete with a maximum handicap of 36, making for a spirited and enjoyable event. Richiamo Coffee Sdn Bhd is the presenting sponsor, providing golf attire, novelty, and main prizes, while supporting a hole-in-one prize. Kopinuts and NZ Malaya have also come on board, offering premium Noritake dinnerware and a trip to Seoul, respectively.
