Bryson DeChambeau claimed the Aramco LIV Golf Singapore title after a dramatic playoff against wild card Richard T. Lee at Sentosa’s Serapong Course.

After a day marked by humidity, rain, and multiple delays, Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau claimed his fourth LIV Golf title when Lee missed a short par putt on the playoff hole, giving DeChambeau his latest individual victory.

Both players reached the playoff by posting 5-under-par 66s, finishing at 14-under-par 270. Despite lifting the trophy, DeChambeau admitted the manner of victory left mixed emotions.

“I absolutely hated it for Richard,” DeChambeau said. “He’s been playing some unbelievable golf. He’s beaten me in a few of the rounds I’ve played with him, and he’s a stellar player. I wanted to go another hole with him. As much as winning is great, I have a lot of respect for Richard and the way he golfs his ball.”

Throughout the week, Lee’s performance continued to impress many, including the eventual champion.

“He’s a real superstar, and the league should be really proud to have him as a wild card,” DeChambeau added.

For DeChambeau, the victory was particularly meaningful, as it marked his first four-round tournament win since the U.S. Open, highlighting a significant achievement in his professional career.

“It’s an incredible relief,” he said. “I haven’t won in four rounds since the U.S. Open in 2024. To do it on a golf course like this that demands precision on every single shot, especially with the conditions changing, I couldn’t be happier.”

The final round tested endurance and skill with oppressive heat, rain, and delays but DeChambeau remained focused on every shot.

“It was really about focusing on what I could control, executing the best shot and staying in the moment,” he explained. “Usually when I win tournaments, I feel a big opportunity building, but today it was just about executing shot after shot and letting the cards fall as they may.”

DeChambeau eagled the fourth, bogeyed the fifth, then steadied with four more birdies, including a long putt on 14. On the 15th, a 230-yard six-iron approach set up a key chance.

“That shot kind of gave me some gust in my sails,” he said.

During the playoff, he was forced to scramble for par in a tense and chaotic moment. He managed to chip close and secure a four-foot putt, only to watch in disbelief as Lee’s short attempt slid past.

“I thought he was just going to knock it in and we’d go another hole,” DeChambeau said. “You never want to win that way. But sometimes that’s the way golf works.”

Adding another milestone to his LIV Golf career, the playoff was also a first for DeChambeau in the league.

“Individually, it is my first playoff,” he said. “Nice to get a 1–0 there. But it’s almost 50/50 when it’s one hole. Richard could have made that putt, and it would have been over. That’s just the way the game of golf is. Sometimes it falls your way, and sometimes it doesn’t, but the most important thing is giving yourself that opportunity.”

Lee, who earned his spot via the LIV Promotions event, stayed upbeat despite the miss.

“There are some slick putts out there,” Lee said. “It was a short putt, and I wanted to hit it firm, but I hit it a little too hard. The adrenaline was pumping. I felt like I had it this week. I played really well, and hopefully next week I can try again.”

Reflecting on the week, Lee said improved confidence with the putter had played a key role in his strong performance.

“Ever since I changed to a mallet putter, my putting stats have improved, and I’ve built a lot more confidence out there,” he said.

Meanwhile, captain Lee Westwood of Majesticks GC capped the week with a final-round 69, finishing 12-under 272 for sole third.

Overcoming a wrist injury and travel difficulties, Westwood shared, “I’ve obviously had a few things to deal with. The wrist injury wasn’t ideal coming into the season, and I got stuck in Dubai and arrived late in Hong Kong, so not much practice. I felt like I was swinging well, but played little golf coming into Hong Kong. I played well last week and then followed it up by playing great this week.”

Asked about the pressures of playing in the final group alongside some of the longest hitters in the world, Westwood added: “Yeah, it was brilliant. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the final group when it really meant something. I was just trying to play my own game. I’m playing first a lot and trying to hit as many fairways as possible and get close to the flag because I know I’m not going to overpower this course playing with Bryson and Joaco.”

Third-round leader and Torque captain, Joaquín Niemann, shot a 1-under-par 70 to finish fourth at 11-under-par 273, while Jon Rahm, captain of Legion XIII, carded a 3-under-par 68 to end in fifth at 10-under-par 274.

Standout performances from each member led 4Aces GC to secure the team title with a 27-under-par score, continuing their dominant start to the season.

“Obviously, this year we’re off to a good start. All four of us are playing really solid,” said captain Dustin Johnson. “AK (Anthony Kang) won in Adelaide, which really helped the team there. We got a podium finish there, third. Then we all played well – Thomas and Thomas (Pieters and Detry) played really good last week. Me and AK, we played really solid, which is what it takes to get victories out here. Yeah, all four of us are playing really nicely. So that’s how you win.”
