Edven Ying produced a superb final-round nine-under-par 63 to win the PGM Tiara Melaka Closed Championship by one shot at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club.
Edven began the day several shots behind overnight leader Marcus Lim but surged up the leaderboard with an eagle at the par-five second and seven birdies. His bogey-free round took him to 11-under-par for the championship and earned him the winner’s purse of RM31,500.
Edven said the Meadow and Woodland layout demanded careful course management, particularly when reading the greens and converting putts.
“This win means a lot to me and my family. I will celebrate with my family and friends soon,” he said.
Edven will next turn his attention to an Asian Tour event in Macau and plans to continue working on every aspect of his game in preparation.
Nor Heikal Hadi also completed a bogey-free final round but finished one shot behind at 10-under-par to take second place.
Marcus Lim and Kemarol Baharin shared third place at seven-under-par, while Nor Haqeim Hadi received the Best Amateur award.
The final round also produced a memorable moment for Casper Loh, who recorded a hole-in-one at the 168-metre 11th hole using a six-iron. It was the fourth ace of his golfing career.
In the PGM Ladies Championship, Zulaikah Nasser completed a wire-to-wire victory with a winning total of two-under-par.
Zulaikah collected RM10,000 and said the victory had boosted her confidence ahead of The Ladies tournament at The Mines Resort & Golf Club next week.
Pang Hee Jie finished runner-up at one-over-par, while Amirah Nur Hanania claimed the Best Ladies Amateur prize.
The PGM Tiara Melaka Closed Championship carried a total prize purse of RM180,000, with RM30,000 allocated to the Ladies Championship. The tournament was played on the par-72 Meadow and Woodland courses at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club.
