In a thrilling finish at the PGM Royal Pekan Closed Championship 2025, Ervin Chang held his nerve to triumph over Amir Nazrin in a dramatic playoff, while Liyana Durisic emerged victorious in the Ladies Championship with a composed and confident final round.
After both players finished tied at 13-under-par for the tournament, Ervin Chang and Amir Nazrin headed into a sudden-death playoff. The first playoff hole saw both golfers stumble with bogeys, setting the stage for a tense second hole. Chang capitalised on the moment, sinking a precise birdie putt to seal the win and take home the RM31,500 winner’s prize.
“I’m really happy with this win,” said Chang. “Now it’s time to get some rest before heading to Kuantan for the PGM Royal Pahang Closed Championship. The course here was in great condition and the competition was strong—Amir played well, and watching him finish on 18 was intense, but that’s part of the game.”
Close behind, Ben Leong and Edvin Ying narrowly missed joining the playoff, finishing tied in third place at 12-under-par. Leong carded the lowest round of the day with an impressive 7-under. Daeng Rahman rounded out the top five at 9-under-par.

In the Ladies Championship, Liyana Durisic displayed mental fortitude from the outset, sinking back-to-back birdies on the opening holes to draw level with overnight leader Winnie Ng. Durisic finished at 6-under-par, claiming a well-deserved victory and the RM10,000 prize.
“This win means a lot after narrowly missing out in the last two championships,” said Durisic. “It’s great momentum heading into next week at Kelab Golf DiRaja Pahang and looking ahead to the ASEAN LPGA Qualifier in August.”
Winnie Ng struggled to maintain her lead, eventually finishing second at even par, while Geraldine Wong placed third, just one stroke behind.
The tournament, hosted at the par-72 Royal Pekan Golf Club, featured a strong field of local talent and offered a prize purse of RM180,000 for the men’s division and RM30,000 for the ladies.
