Forest City’s Legacy Course opens for play

The much-anticipated Legacy Course of the Forest City Golf Resort in Gelang Patah, Johor opened for play on September 1, offering a top-class golfing experience supported by five-star facilities and services.

Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II, the par-72 Legacy Course stretches 7,386 yards from the black markers and meanders through mangrove swamps bordering the Pulai River. The wide, undulating fairways and superbly-shaped greens are turfed with lush Paspalum Platinum, while sprawling waste areas, sculptured bunkers and large lakes add form and challenge to the course. In typical Nicklaus fashion, multiple tees ensure playability for all levels of golfers.

The waste areas and abundant use of palm trees in the landscaping lend a desert-like feel to the course, reminiscent of golf in the Middle East. The practice facilities are top-class as well, featuring a turf driving range along with large putting and chipping greens.

Forest City hosted international and local media over the weekend and all were extremely impressed by the superb design and immaculate condition of the golf course.

The golf resort forms part of the mega Forest City residential and leisure project by Country Garden PacificView Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between China’s Country Garden Group and Johor’s Esplanade Danga 88 Sdn Bhd.
