It was a great day out for more than 100 golfers in the MST Golf TaylorMade ilovegolf Tournament, staged at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) on Wednesday, August 24.

Consisting of members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme, the participants teed off at KLGCC’s stunning East Course in bright and sunny conditions. Joining in the fun on the fairways was TaylorMade Greater China General Manager, Ken Yeo, TaylorMade Southeast Asia Senior Manager for Sales Business Development, Simon Sim, MST Golf Managing Director KP Low and KLGCC General Manager Steven Tan.

The main competition saw some excellent scores signed in, while those whose games were not firing on all cylinders still had a chance to win prizes at the numerous novelty holes.

Participants were also able to test their skills against TaylorMade staff professionals CM Chong and Lawrence Lau in the Beat The Pro Challenge at the par-three 5th hole. Each golfer who was able to get his tee shot closer to the pin than the two professionals, who took turns to play the hole against each flight, was rewarded with a sleeve of TaylorMade Soft Response golf balls.

The Stealth Experience at the par-four 3rd hole saw TaylorMade professionals Nate Stevenson and Roger Loo stationed at the teebox with a bagful of the new Stealth drivers featuring revolutionary Carbonwood technology. Participants had the option of using one of the Stealth drivers for their first counting drive, or use their own drivers and hit a test second shot using a Stealth.

After 18 holes of competition, Zaily Jamaluddin emerged as the 2022 champion with a superb score of 41 Stableford points off a System 36 handicap of 11. Zaily’s handsome reward was a set of TaylorMade Stealth Irons worth RM6,120.

“I was chipping and putting well today, and I had some luck too. It was just my day,” said Zaily, a businessman who has been an ilovegolf member for more than five years.

“The venue is very good, the organisation was excellent, and we enjoyed some fine weather today as well,” he added.

Runner-up honours went to Jung Young Guk with a score of 39 points, edging third-placed Amin Maliki on countback. Jung won himself a TaylorMade Stealth Driver worth RM3,590, while Amin went home with a TaylorMade Spider Putter worth RM2,200. Prizes were given out to the top 10 finishers.

The Nearest To Pin novelty contest at Hole 15 was won by Mohd Rezwan Abdul Razak with a tee shot that stopped 11 inches from the hole, earning him a TaylorMade Milled Grind Wedge.

Ken Lee Chee Weng hit the most accurate drive at Hole 11, just three inches from the line to win the Nearest To Line contest. Sim You Jin meanwhile hit a massive 276-metre tee shot at Hole 15 to top the Longest Drive contest. Both golfers won TaylorMade Select Plus Stand Bags.

“I would like to thank the sponsors and our ilovegolf members for all your support over the years. I am proud to say that we have participants from Ipoh, Melaka, Kelantan and Johor,” said Low during the lunch prizegiving.

Numerous lucky draw prizes were given out, including TaylorMade products, Healthland vouchers, MST Golf Arena vouchers and the grand prize of a Garmin Approach S60 GPS Smart Watch.
