Malaysia’s Gavin Green closed with an excellent five-under-par 67 to finish T18 in the Oman Open.
Green nailed an eagle and four birdies against a solitary bogey at Al Mouj Golf Club in Muscat to record his best round of the week.
Back in action after a three-week break, Green finished with a total score of seven-under-par 281 (71, 70, 73, 67). In five starts so far this year, the 26-year-old has finished top 30 in all including a T3 in the Saudi International.
The Malaysian No 1 is projected to remain in 19th position in the European Tour’s Race To Dubai rankings.
The US$1.75 million event was won by Finland’s Sami Valimaki who claimed his maiden European Tour title by defeating South African Brandon Stone on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff. Both men had finished 72 holes tied on 13-under-par.
The European Tour remains in the Middle East this coming week for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
