Gavin Green delivered a steady performance at the Porsche Singapore Classic, shooting a final round of 2-under 70 to finish with a total of 9-under 207 for a tied 20th position. The Malaysian golfer had posted rounds of 67 and 70 on the first two days at Laguna National Golf Resort Club before battling a mixed final round that included birdies, bogeys, and a double bogey.

The tournament, reduced to 54 holes following a washout on Thursday, saw Green maintain a solid presence throughout. His first-round 67 put him in contention, and despite fluctuating conditions on the final day, he remained composed to finish inside the top 20.

While Green put together a respectable showing, it was England’s Richard Mansell who claimed victory. Mansell, who entered the final round one shot off the lead at 10-under par, surged ahead with five consecutive birdies from the fourth hole. His impressive putting display saw him take a two-shot lead at the turn.

Mansell faced pressure on the back nine, where Japan’s Keita Nakajima put together a flawless round of 65, featuring seven birdies to briefly join him at the top of the leaderboard. However, Mansell held his nerve, making a crucial 15-foot birdie at the 13th and finishing with a dramatic two-putt birdie from over 100 feet at the 18th to secure the title at 16-under par—one stroke ahead of Nakajima.

The victory marked Mansell’s first professional win, capping off a determined performance in his first week working with caddie David Kenny

He said: “What a feeling. Just to get into that position, and I played so well today.

“In 2022 I had quite a few close calls and didn’t get it done. Looking back on it I probably should’ve kept doing what I was doing and it probably would’ve happened a lot sooner.

“It’s taken a lot of work these past six months. Ellie, my wife, has been so supportive. I’ve just had to really, really stay patient and forget everyone else and that was my main thing today, to focus on myself,” he concluded.
