Gavin Green surged into a commanding lead after the opening round of the PGM Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy at Saujana Golf & Country Club, carding a nine-under-par 63 to take a six-shot advantage.
Despite rain from late morning to afternoon that made conditions more challenging, Green delivered an impressive round featuring 11 birdies, five pars and two bogeys. Defending champion Anson Yeo sits in second at three-under, while Brandon Lai and Kenneth Tobuse are tied at two-under. Marcus Lim and Ryan Fernandez are a further shot back.

In the Ladies Championship, Winnie Ng leads after a bogey-free four-under-par round, with birdies on holes 4, 6, 9 and 17. Liyana Durisic, fresh from recent wins in Australia and at the PGM KGPA Ladies Championship, is tied for second at three-under alongside Zulaikah Nasser, while Mirabel Ting is at one-under. Allycia Gan is among those at one-over.
The tournament, played on the Par 72 Bunga Raya course, offers a prize purse of RM180,000 for the men’s event and RM30,000 for the Ladies Championship.
