Malaysian number one Gavin Green resumes his European Tour campaign in this week’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, which starts tomorrow at the Education Cty Golf Club in Doha.
Gavin will tee off in the first round at 6.25am (Malaysian time 11.25am) off the 10th tee with Scotland’s Richie Ramsay and Japan’s Masahiro Kawamura. The long-hitting Malaysian will be hoping to repeat his form from last year’s tournament, when he finished T12 after a closing 65.
The US$1.5 million event returns to Education City Golf Club following its successful first staging there in 2020, where Spaniard Jorge Campillo defeated Scotsman David Drysdale in a playoff.
The betting favourite this week is four-time European Tour winner Thomas Pieters, who returns to the European circuit following a tie for 15th at the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open. The Belgian star is one of just a handful of players who has played tournament golf in recent weeks, with the last regular European Tour event being the Saudi International in early February.
