Glenmarie Golf & Country Club (GGCC) has released a statement dispelling alleged rumours circulating in golfing circles that it is under quarantine due to a positive case of Covid-19 among its members.

In the statement released today, the club noted:

“There have been a number of fake messages and unfounded rumours circulating related to GGCC currently being under quarantine due to a Coronavirus (COVID-19) case amongst one of our members.

“*This is untrue.*

“The management would like to assure that GGCC is committed in executing strict guidelines while meticulously following the directive given by the authorities and has provided an environment that is safe to play in.

“If you receive these messages or any other unsubstantiated information over WhatsApp or other online platforms, we urge you not to forward or circulate them. Remember, if you are not sure, don’t share.

“We thank you for your continuous support and look forward to seeing you soon!”

Glenmarie enforces strict measures to guard against Covid-19

Club manager Nor Afendi Mohd Razlan noted that the rumours were totally baseless, stressing that the club has implemented and enforced strict social distancing and sanitisation protocols since reopening for play on May 6.

“We would like to assure golfers that the rumours are totally and absolutely untrue. The club has extremely strict social distancing and sanitisation Standard Operating Procedures in place and we make sure that they are enforced and that golfers adhere 100% to the new normals,” he said.

“I can confidently say that there is no safer club than Glenmarie for golfers to enjoy a round of golf in these unprecedented times,” added Afendi, who is also the vice-president of the Golf Club Managers Association of Malaysia.

Located in Shah Alam, Glenmarie offers two excellent 18-hole layouts in the Garden and Valley courses. Established in 1993, the club has hosted numerous high-profile events over the years including the EurAsia Cup in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
