With Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrated worldwide in October, Glenmarie Golf & Country Club has launched a Pinktober campaign for the first time, with the goal of underscoring the importance of breast cancer awareness among golfers and local communities.
“We are honoured to partner with Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) and the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) to help in the fight against breast cancer. With their support, we believe that this campaign could spark awareness in the Malaysian golfing community,” said club manager Nor Afendi Mohd Razlan.
With the slogan ‘Chip In For A Cure’, the campaign runs for the whole month of October and will see Glenmarie offering a special weekday rate of RM120 for all lady golfers, while men golfers wearing either a pink shirt or pants can play for RM185. The club will also be donating RM1 from all visitor golfers who play at Glenmarie until the end of December 2020 to the BCWA. Proceeds help the association’s efforts and services which includes providing peer support for women with breast cancer.
“It’s very encouraging to see the efforts of Glenmarie going beyond just business to support the fight against breast cancer,” said Ranjit Kaur, the president of BCWA, herself a breast cancer survivor of 22 years.
“Since BCWA’s inception in 1986, we have been working tirelessly in our efforts to reach out to women and spread the message that treatment at an early stage of breast cancer can save lives. It is this heartfelt mission that has seen the initiative to reach out to women of various socio-economic levels to help prevent premature deaths due to breast cancer.”
The BCWA’s Community Outreach services throughout Malaysia involves educating women on breast health, offering clinical breast examinations and referring and navigating women for timely screening, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer at local hospitals. The Patient Supportive Care services meanwhile includes psychosocial support and counselling, as well as rehabilitation and recovery activities for breast cancer patients so that they can return to a normal life again.
“On behalf of the BCWA, I wish to take this opportunity to thank Glenmarie for their untiring efforts in supporting the breast cancer cause. With your support, we can continue to save more families from the devastation of breast cancer.”
As part of the Pinktober campaign, Glenmarie will also be raising awareness and as much funds as possible through a charity raffle draw. Members of the public may purchase tickets and stand a chance to win prizes that include golf merchandise, complimentary golfing vouchers, hotel stays, F&B vouchers and more worth over RM25,000. All proceeds go to the BCWA.
