Green advances to knockout phase in Belgium as seeded player

Malaysia’s Gavin Green will go into the weekend knockout phase of the Belgian Knockout as one of the 16 seeds in the 64-player field after securing a T8 finish on five-under-par in the 36-hole strokeplay stage yesterday.

Green carded a second round 70 to add to his opening 67 and will face Matthias Schwab of Austria in the first round of the knockout stage on Saturday morning at 7.40am (1.40pm Malaysian time). As a seeded player, Green will advance to the next round if he finishes the nine-hole strokeplay match tied with Schwab.

If Green wins, he will face either England’s Oliver Fisher or Argentina’s Estanislao Goya in the round of 32 later today.

Staged at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, the Belgian Knockout has a hybrid format that incorporates 36 holes of traditional strokeplay before the top 64 players go head-to-head over nine holes of knockout strokeplay on the weekend.
