Malaysia’s Kelly Tan heads into the LPGA Tour’s two-event Scottish swing full of confidence following consecutive strong performances in her return to tour action after a five-month-plus hiatus.

Kelly followed up a T11 finish at the LPGA Drive On Championship with a T9 performance at the Marathon Classic, which vaulted her up to 25th spot on the LPGA Tour’s abbreviated 2020 season Race To CME Globe rankings and 276th place on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings.

“The past couple of weeks have been a great confidence booster. I played really well and I’ve been working so hard over the past few months, so it’s great to see the results right away,” said an upbeat Kelly just before she boarded an LPGA charter plane for the UK on Sunday night.

Kelly tees off in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Ladies Open at The Renaissance Club on Thursday and will then make her 13th Major appearance at next week’s AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon.

The Malaysian No 1 is particularly looking forward to her third Women’s Open start, which she earned via the Marathon Classic by being among the top five finishers not otherwise qualified.

“I’ve never played at Royal Troon before and have only heard great things about the golf course, so I’m super stoked! I’m going to spend some time on YouTube watching Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson battle it out in the 2016 Open at Royal Troon to learn something from them,” shared Kelly, adding that she was just excited at being able to play tournament golf again.

In 12 Major appearances since she turned professional in 2013, Kelly’s best finish came at the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship where she tied for 30th at Sahalee Country Club. She has yet to make the cut in the Women’s Open in two previous appearances in 2015 and 2016.
