Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s (KLGCC) West Course are set to welcome rising golf stars from across the globe when the inaugural SportExcel-KLGCC International Junior Golf Championship takes place from 16–18 July 2025. The tournament, jointly organised by SportExcel and KLGCC, promises to be a celebration of youth excellence, international camaraderie, and the future of the sport.
Officially recognised by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), the championship underscores a shared vision of nurturing world-class junior golfers through elite-level competition. With 110 players from 10 countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Korea, and Malaysia, the event signals a significant step forward in regional and global junior golf development.
Among the notable international contingents is a delegation from Rowville Secondary College, Melbourne, representing Australia. Comprising 11 players (7 boys and 4 girls), their participation reflects the championship’s growing reputation as a proving ground for young talent and a platform for cultural exchange through sport.
The format will see players compete over three rounds of 18-hole stroke play, with prizes awarded to the top three in each of the six age-based divisions:
- Men’s A & Women’s A(ages 19–23)
- Boys’ B & Girls’ B(ages 15–18)
- Boys’ C & Girls’ C(ages 13–14)

While individual category titles will be up for grabs, all eyes will be on the pursuit of the Overall Champion titles—one for boys (Blue Tee) and one for girls (White Tee). The stakes are high: the Overall Blue Tee Champion will earn direct entry into the Asian Development Tour 2025 in the Philippines (16–19 October), while the Overall White Tee Champion will secure a spot at the Singapore Ladies Masters 2025, an event sanctioned by the China LPGA (28–30 November).
Further elevating the tournament’s prestige, two players will be selected for the Next Gen World Finals 2025 at Moonah Links Resort in Australia (24–25 November), and two others will advance to the Bridgestone ASEAN Tour Grand Finals 2025 (31 October).
SportExcel and KLGCC outlined their broader ambition – to transform Kuala Lumpur into a hub for junior golf excellence while fostering greater regional collaboration through sport. By combining world-class competition with developmental pathways, the SportExcel-KLGCC International Junior Golf Championship is not only shaping future champions—it is also building bridges across nations.
