A total of 160 avid golfers from the US, UK, Netherlands, France, Australia, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia played in the 5th Tourism Johor Golf Tournament 2022 for the coveted Tunku Panglima Johor Challenge Trophy on 3 – 4 December 2022 at The Els Club Desaru Coast – Ocean and Valley.
The annual event, which inaugurated in 2017 provides a chance for avid golfers to have great fun, play golf as well as network on two beautiful golf courses.
According to Col. Mohd Jamal Salleh, the President of Johor Golf Tourism Association (JGTA) due to the overwhelming response, the organiser decided to host a two-day golf tournament. He added that the tournament has grown from strength to strength and the strong international participation is a clear indication that the golf tourism industry in Johor Darul Ta’zim is looking very promising in the future.
The overall gross champion Shahreel Iqubal Dom Ami (3) walked away with the exquisite Tunku Panglima Johor Challenge Trophy and a personal trophy. Mohd Nasharuddin Mat Nasir (9) emerged the A Division winner while Zulkifli Ally (14) took the B Division nett title. The C Division prize went to Ahmad Fariq Omar (23). Nurul (10) emerged winner of the Ladies category.
The event is supported by JGTA’s royal patron the Sultan of Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Johor.
