Johor Golf & Country Club aids caddies with essentials during Covid-19 Movement Control Order

Johor Golf & Country Club (JGCC) has come to the aid of its caddies by donating essential provisions to them during the ongoing Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO).

Moved by their plight as the caddies rely solely on daily fees and tips, the club initiated a Caddie Relief Fund a few days after the MCO came into effect on March 18.

The club’s members were quick to respond, contributing though direct account deductions which saw the kitty reach RM13,000 to-date.

The money was used to purchase daily necessities for the club’s 50-strong caddie force. In a heart-warming gesture, the provisions were distributed to the caddies at the club by members who volunteered their time.

“We have spent half of the collection so far on daily necessities for our caddies. The remainder we will keep just in case the Movement Control Order is extended,” said Captain Mohd Anizam Jamian, the club captain of JGCC.

Like all golf clubs in the country, JGCC has shut down all operations until March 31. This includes the renovation and redesign work on its 18-hole golf course, which was originally built in the early 1970s.

Members had been playing a nine-hole composite course comprising six holes of the old layout and three new holes until the March 18 closure.

“I hope that all members will stay safe at home until the Movement Control Order is lifted,” said Anizam.
