In a benevolent move, Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) has started a Relief Fund for its caddies to help them make ends meet during the ongoing Movement Control Order due to the escalating Covid-19 pandemic.
The idea to seek voluntary contributions was actually put forward by a few KGNS members from the Media & Friends Golf Group and it was soon endorsed and implemented by the club’s management committee. The club’s 50-odd caddies rely solely on caddie fees and tips for their income, which is now effectively zero due to the shutdown of the club until March 31.
A notice posted on the club’s website stated:
“During the two weeks closure our caddies, who completely depend on their daily wages, would be the HARDEST HIT.”
“The MC (Management Committee) has approved to give them RM500 for the two weeks (18th – 31st March 2020) using the existing Caddy’s Fund with a suggestion to initiate voluntary contributions from members.
“The MC fully support this noble gesture/cause which will definitely help them and their families.”
KGNS members who would like to contribute can call or email the club to make the necessary arrangements for it to be included in their monthly accounts.
