Malaysian ladies No 1 Kelly Tan got off to a roaring start in the ANA Inspiration with an excellent four-under-par 68 in yesterday’s first round, placing her in T4 position in the second Major of the abbreviated 2020 LPGA season.
Kelly carded seven birdies against three bogeys to trail leader Nelly Korda by two shots at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
In 13 previous Major starts since she turned professional in 2013, Kelly’s best finish came at the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship where she tied for 30th at Sahalee Country Club. Her only previous appearance in the ANA Inspiration came in 2016 when she finished joint 50th.
Kelly tees off in today’s second round at 12.15pm (Friday 3.15am Malaysian time), paired as she was in the opening round with China’s Xiyu Lin.
