The LPGA Tour has made additional changes to its 2020 schedule due to the continued impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Five more events on the tour calendar have been postponed with four of those five rescheduled for later this year, including the US Women’s Open which moves to a December date.

The Pelican Women’s Championship presented by Dex Imaging in Belleair, Florida, originally scheduled for May 14-17, will now take place November 12-15. The ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer in Atlantic City, New Jersey, originally scheduled for May 29-31, will move to July 31 to August 2. The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Simply Give in Grand Rapids, Micigan., originally scheduled for June 11-14, is working on a date to reschedule.

The USGA had announced on Friday that the US Women’s Open, previously scheduled for June 4-7, has been postponed to December 10-13. The championship will be played at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas, as originally planned. However, given the December dates and resulting loss in daylight, both the Cypress Creek and Jackrabbit courses will be used.

“The USGA remains committed to hosting the US Women’s Open in 2020,” said USGA CEO Mike Davis. “We are grateful to the LPGA and our broadcast partner, Fox, for their terrific collaboration in finding a new date for the championship. Our priority remains ensuring the safety of all involved with the US Women’s Open, while still providing the world’s best players the opportunity to compete this year.”

US Women’s Open qualifying is expected to be held on rescheduled dates and potentially some new locations. The USGA is also reviewing how the postponement will affect exemption categories.

The Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, originally scheduled for May 21-24, will not take place this year but will return in 2021.

The LPGA also announced one additional event that has been rescheduled for later in 2020. The Kia Classic, previously postponed in March, will now be held September 24-27 in Carlsbad, California.

“We are so thankful to all our partners for their flexibility and willingness to work with us during this very difficult time,” said LPGA commissioner Mike Whan. “This has been a truly collective effort to reschedule tournament dates and work together to provide LPGA players with as many playing opportunities as possible once it is safe for us to resume competing again. As we watch the world come together in this battle against this virus, we are so thankful for all of the support from our valued partners and we continue to wish for the health and safety of all the extended members of our global LPGA family.”
