Sentosa Golf Club is set to host the LIV Golf League for the first time in Singapore. The Serapong course will witness three days of intense competition from April 28-30 as some of the biggest names in the sport vie for individual and team glory.

LIV Golf Singapore presented by Resorts World Sentosa is the fifth event of the LIV Golf League season, giving legions of golf fans in Asia the chance to experience LIV Golf’s innovative format and action-packed style over three days at Sentosa.

The world-class field of 48 players, including major winners Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer, and Charl Schwartzel, will battle it out in simultaneous team and individual play as they pursue the LIV Golf League Individual Championship and Team Championship, the culmination of a global 14-event season taking place across seven different countries.

Last week, LIV Golf’s superstars underscored their world-class sporting credentials in a sensational 2023 edition of the Masters. Of the 18 LIV golfers who competed in the season’s first major, 12 made the cut, with Mickelson and Koepka finishing T-2 and Reed claiming T-4. The green jacket was won by Jon Rahm after a thrilling final round at Augusta National.

Reed, the 4Aces GC star, is confident the upcoming LIV Golf tournament will give the region’s many sports fans a completely new perspective on the game. The 2018 Masters champion said, “The biggest thing the Singapore fans can expect is a different spin on golf, showing the faster and more fun side of the game. They will see a more energised event, and they will also see the team aspect, with the guys going out and playing not just for themselves, but for their teammates.”

Reed continued, “Players are looking more at team leaderboards than individual leaderboards to see what they need to do in order to help the team. This gives guys more motivation to play well for the three other players on the team.”

Garcia’s Fireballs GC currently sit in third place in the team standings and within striking distance of the first place 4Aces, and the Spaniard, who’s squad took the team title at LIV Golf Tucson, is hoping previous experience at Sentosa Golf Club will play to his advantage. The 43-year-old won the SMBC Singapore Open back in 2018, the year after donning the famous green jacket with a memorable Masters win of his own at Augusta National.

Garcia said, “I’m really excited to come back to Singapore and Sentosa, it’s a great golf course. I won there a few years ago, and I think everyone is going to love it. It’s the kind of course that you have to drive the ball well, it’s as simple as that. If my teammates drive the ball well, which all of them do, we should have a good chance at the tournament there.”

Garcia, one of Europe’s most accomplished players in international team competition history, added, “Everyone knows how much I enjoy the team aspect of it. That’s one thing that has made it more interesting for all of us – when the tournament starts, you pay a lot more attention to what your teammates are doing. You try to do the best you can, not only to do well for yourself but also for your teammates. We really enjoy that, and we are looking forward to a great week for the Fireballs.”

Reed’s competitive nature was on display last season as he helped captain Dustin Johnson secure the team competition in the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Now in the league’s first full season, he is as hungry as ever for team and individual glory in 2023.

Reed said, “Because of last year and the 4Aces winning five events and the team competition, we expect to continue that great play and get back on the podium again this year. But for me in general, it’s important to get on the podium as an individual, to be in contention on Sundays and to win some golf tournaments.”

Grounds passes for LIV Golf Singapore presented by Resorts World Sentosa are currently available starting at SGD 54 (US $40) per day and are all-inclusive of the tournament fan activities on site.
