The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) has put together recommended guidelines for social distancing and sanitisation protocols at golf clubs, once they are permitted to resume operations on Monday, May 4.
In a communique sent out yesterday, the MGA reminded golf clubs that they can only recommence operations once a declaration is submitted to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
“Following the announcement by the YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia today, May 1, 2020 at 11am, the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) would like to inform that Golf Clubs can only recommence operations PROVIDED that a declaration is submitted to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) via notification.miti.gov.my. The commencement date of the said application is effective from 4 May 2020 and shall end at 12 May, 2020.
“However, certain guidelines have to be observed to ensure that the safety of the employees, caddies, members and guests are protected during the Covid-19 pandemic which has been drafted by MGA to be issued to all Golf Clubs soonest.
“MGA would like to urge all golf club operators to prioritise maintaining social distancing in the clubhouse and throughout any golf round to properly safeguard the health of your employees, caddies, members and guests.”
MGA Guidelines:
Golf clubs, retail outlets, driving ranges and other golf-related businesses have been shut down since March 18 when the Movement Control Order was enforced to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
Prime Minster Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had announced in his Labour Day address that selected sports and businesses which do not involve physical contact or large groups will be permitted to resume operations on May 4, following social distancing protocols under a less stringent conditional Movement Control Order.
