The 38th Templer Park CC Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open Championship 2024, which will be played from 15-17 July, will feature just under 100 of the region’s top female amateur golfers competing at the challenging Templer Park Country Club.
This annual national ladies event has been given a C rating, and it is the highest counting event for the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) for a ladies’ golf event in Malaysia. Golfers will vie for four prestigious trophies in four categories. They include the DYMM Tunku Ampuan Negeri Sembilan Trophy for the champion, the YAM Tunku Tun Maimunah Trophy for the mid-amateur division, the Maria Musa trophy for the senior division and the Mary Williams Trophy for the team event.
This year’s edition will see top-ranked national players from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, China, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India and Malaysia. Players from Malaysia will include defending champion Ng Jing Xuen, who was also the 2023 SEA Games gold medallist, and Foong Zi Yu, the silver medallist. Mirabel Ting, the WAGR top-ranked Malaysian player, who was runner-up in the 2023 ladies open, and ranked 12th in the WAGR, will also join the event this year making one of the most competitive field.
Templer Park Country Club is in the second year of its sponsorship this year. The three-year sponsorship ends in 2025.
Past local winners of the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open include Lim Siew Ai, Lim Ai Lian, Michelle Koh, Kelly Tan, and Nur Durriyah Damian.
