Malaysia’s Ng Jing Xuen finished second
Malaysian golfers made their mark at the CLPG Tour Qualifying Tournament, with Ng Jing Xuen leading the charge as she secured an impressive runner-up finish in Hainan Island. While Indonesia’s Holly Victoria Halim clinched a dominant four-stroke victory, Malaysia’s representatives also showcased their talent and determination in the competitive field.
Ng Jing Xuen, the 16-year-old rookie pro from Kuala Lumpur, closed with an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at level-par 288, securing second place. Her final round included two birdies, two bogeys, and an impressive eagle at the par-five 14th hole, where she chipped in from 16 meters using a 58-degree wedge. Reflecting on her performance, Ng said, “It was a surprise when the chip went in. I didn’t play any practice rounds after missing my flight to China, so this result means a lot to me.”
Fellow Malaysian Winnie Ng also secured a full playing card for the 2025 CLPG Tour season. Winnie’s rounds of 68-76-80-74 earned her a joint 11th-place finish alongside compatriot Zulaikah Nasser, who shot 77-76-73-72. Allycia Gan, another Malaysian hopeful, earned her card through an exemption under Category 8.
While Halim’s four-under-par total of 284 set her apart as the tournament champion, Ng Jing Xuen’s performance demonstrated her ability to compete at the highest level. “Everyone wants to win, but I focused on keeping it simple and taking one shot at a time,” said Ng, who last year won the Singapore leg on the CLPG Q development circuit as an amateur.

Thailand’s Chakansim Khamborn, who finished third at five strokes behind Ng, and China’s Wang Zixuan, who placed fourth, rounded out the top contenders. Despite windy conditions and a challenging course, Malaysia’s players emerged as strong contenders in a field vying for one of 30 full-time playing cards.
The Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula West Course, a 6,321-yard, par-72 seaside layout designed by Tom Weiskopf and Phil Smith, provided a picturesque yet demanding setting for the tournament.
