Malaysia’s Ainil Bakar finished T36 in her return to tour action at the Flumserberg Ladies Open, which ended yesterday at the Gams-Werdenberg Golf Club in Gams, Switzerland.
Ainil carded rounds of 78, 73 and 70 for a five-over-par total in the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) event. The €40,000 tournament was won by Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen in a playoff over Norway’s Stina Resen after both players finished 54 holes tied on 12-under-par.
This was Ainil’s first competitive event since the Ladies European Tour (LET) qualifying school in Spain in late January. Next up for the 30-year-old is the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open at Golfpark Holzhäusern (September 10-12) on the LET, followed by the LETAS’ Lavaux Ladies Open at Golf De Lavaux (September 23-25).
This coming week will see Malaysian ladies No 1 Kelly Tan make her 14th Major appearance in the ANA Inspiration at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, while Malaysian men’s No 1 Gavin Green is currently serving out a 14-day quarantine at the PJ Hilton hotel after returning from the UK last week. Gavin is aiming to return to European Tour action in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort in Northern Ireland on September 24-27.
