Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting scored a runaway victory at the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship woman’s title when she carded a brilliant 11-under-par 277 at the Tanah Merah Country Club’s Tampines course in the city state. This was the 16-year-old’s first international title after two years.

The Hanoi SEA Games team silver medallist made it a wire-to-wire victory after recording her fourth consecutive sub-par round to finish 16 shots ahead of Singapore’s. Hailey Loh. She carded rounds of 71-68-67-72. Mikhaela Fortuna and Sofia Chabon of the Philippines shared third place on identical scores of nine-over 297 while Malaysia’s Ashley Goh finished in fifth spot three stroke away.

“It has been a blast week and I am super happy to win here in Singapore. I would like to thank the Malaysian Golf Association for giving me this opportunity to play in this prestigious event,” Mirabel said.

She also thanked her parents and “all my uncles and aunts back in Sarawak” for their strong moral support.

The Sarawakian from Miri recently won the PGAM Satellite Tour 8th, the Sportexcel Premier Elite Leg 1, the PGM Maybank Saujana Championship and PGM KIA Championship. She finished second in the 54th Malaysia Closed Championship in June.

In the men’s division, Yash Majmudar of India won the title after a play-off with Isaac Lam of Hong Kong and Weerawish Narkprachar of Thailand. All three carded rounds of three-over 291.

The best placed Malaysian player was Anson Yeo Boon Xiang who finished in joint eighth position on a nine-over-par 297 while Benjamin Ngelingkong was joint 27th (308) and Lo Tien Ming joint 30th (309).
