Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung and Gavin Green bow out of Golf in Dubai Championship

The Malaysian challenge in the on-going Golf in Dubai Championship presented by DP World ended yesterday when Nicholas Fung and Gavin Green both failed to make the halfway cut.

Dubai-based Nicholas narrowly missed out on progressing to the last 36 holes by one shot after consecutive one-under-par 71s at the Fire Course of Jumeirah Golf Estates. Having not seen tournament action since the Bandar Malaysia Open in March, the 30-year-old got into the event as an invitation when slots opened up due to three players testing positive for Covid-19

Malaysian No 1 Gavin meanwhile followed up an opening 74 with a 70 to miss the cut-off by three shots.

The US$1.2 million event precedes the season-ending DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah’s Earth Course, where Gavin will be making his debut appearance after three seasons on the European Tour. The US$8 million event features the top 60 players on the European Tour’s Race To Dubai rankings, where Gavin is currently in 40th position.
