Malaysia’s premier ladies golf tournament returns with Templer Park CC as title sponsor

The highly anticipated 37th edition of the Templer Park CC Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open Championship 2023 takes place from 25th to 27th, 2023. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Templer Park Country Club, the tournament will witness the participation of 100 top female amateur golfers from the region. Notably, the event holds a C rating, making it the highest counting event for the R&A World Amateur Ranking among ladies’ tournaments in Malaysia.

This year’s championship will feature world-ranked national players from Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Among the distinguished participants are Malaysia’s SEA Games gold and bronze medallists, Ng Jing Xuen and Foong Zi Yu.

Additionally, the line-up boasts notable players such as Mirabel Ting, Malaysia’s second- ranked second on the R&A World Amateur Ranking at No. 59, and Liyana Durisic, currently holding the No. 167 spot on the World Amateur Ranking. With 88 entries to date and a maximum target of 100, the competition promises to be fierce and captivating.

Golfers will contend for four highly sought-after trophies in different categories, including the Open Champion, Mid-Amateur Division, Senior Division, and Team Event. The stakes are high as these skilled athletes showcase their prowess and strive for victory.

The last Malaysian to secure the championship title was Nur Durriyah Damian in 2016. With the calibre of national players participating this year, the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) is optimistic about the prospects of a Malaysian emerging as the champion once again.

Aside from the coveted trophies, there are other interesting prizes up for grabs including the hole-in-one prizes like a TESLA vehicle, an Airasia ticket to Busan, a golf set from MST, and a one-year membership from title sponsor Templer Park CC. In fact, the membership prize is for all the par-3 holes during the tournament. Templer Park is also looking to extend their sponsorship of the tournament for three years provided the event is played on Templer Park CC.
