Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the return of the MercedesTrophy, its flagship amateur golf tournament, with the 2026 edition set to tee off in May.
Now in its 36th year, the tournament continues to serve as a key platform for the brand to engage with customers beyond the automotive experience, bringing together golf enthusiasts in a setting that reflects the marque’s premium lifestyle positioning.
“The MercedesTrophy is more than a competition — it has become a signature platform where our customers experience the brand beyond the roads,” said Elaine Hew, General Manager of Marketing Communications at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. “It celebrates moments of connection, enjoyment and a shared passion for excellence.”
The MercedesTrophy is an international amateur golf series exclusively for Mercedes-Benz customers. Since its debut in 1991, it has grown into one of the world’s most recognised amateur tournaments, attracting more than 60,000 golfers annually across over 60 countries.
In Malaysia, the 2026 edition will begin with four qualifying rounds starting May 12 at Tropicana Golf & Country Club, followed by additional rounds at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club on 9 and 10 June. The top performers from these rounds will advance to the National Final, scheduled for June 22 at The ELS Club Desaru Coast.
Participants will compete across four categories based on handicap, with separate divisions for men and women. The women’s qualifier will be held at the Kota Permai G&CC on 10th June.
The top three players at the National Final will earn the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the MercedesTrophy World Final in Germany from September 28 to October 2, competing on an international stage in the birthplace of the automobile.
Adding to the stakes, a hole-in-one prize awaits golfers at designated par-three holes during each round, with a Mercedes-Benz E 350 e valued at RM427,888 up for grabs.
Golfers will also vie for the “Drive to the Major” title, a global Mercedes-Benz competition. The winner, determined by the straightest drive closest to the centre line at the National Final, will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to attend The Open Championship taking place from 15 to 20 July 2026.
Additional prizes include exclusive Mercedes-Benz merchandise and gifts from tournament partners such as Mercedes-Benz Financial, 100Plus, TaylorMade and The Edge, among others. Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast is also supporting this year’s event.
Registration is open to Mercedes-Benz owners who have purchased their vehicles from authorised dealers within the past five years. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. To register and secure your spot, please visit www.mercedes-benz.com.my/golf.
