The Junior Golf Academy of Meru Valley Resort in Ipoh, Perak, is staging its inaugural open day at the driving range on Sunday, March 15 from 9am to 11.30am.
The open day aims to introduce the game of golf to all juniors as well as to encourage them to play outdoor sports. The newly-launched academy already has more than 20 students enrolled and is open to returning juniors and new faces.
The open day will also provide the opportunity for junior golfers and their parents to experience the academy, meet instructors and learn about the teaching philosophy. First-timers will also get a chance to try out the game through simple swinging, putting and chipping games.
“The Meru Valley Junior Golf Academy provides a wonderful opportunity for parents to get their young ones to be outdoor instead being a cybernauts. Enrolling them provides them the opportunity to acquire life and social skills through the game of golf,” said academy founder Dato Hock Toh.
One of the academy’s certified instructors, Sundaresan Raman – known popularly as Sunny – noted: “Golf is a great sport for all ages and teaching young children a skill for life is rewarding. We don’t only teach children to play, we also cultivate moral values and build character, which can be useful when pursuing your dreams. “The formation of Junior Golf Academy has been like a breath of fresh air for the state’s golf industry and a massive boost for the professional game as a whole.”
