The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), through its Women in Golf Charter (WIGC), officially launched the “Swing for Pink” Charity Drive at The Mines Resort & Golf Club, marking the beginning of a nationwide campaign to raise funds for the PPUM B40 Breast Cancer Diagnostic Fund. The initiative aims to provide underprivileged women in Malaysia with access to essential diagnostic procedures such as mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds—tools that could mean the difference between life and loss.
The charity campaign will culminate in a golf tournament on 25 September 2025, also to be held at The Mines, bringing together the golfing community, corporate supporters, and the public in a united stand against breast cancer. But even before the final event, the campaign has already been stirring impact on the ground.
In recent weeks, MGA has organised several outreach programmes to create awareness and foster support for the cause. On 6 July, a Breast Cancer Awareness & Wellness Talk was held in collaboration with ReGen Rehab Hospital, where survivors and the public engaged in honest conversations about early detection and mental health. That momentum continued with a second talk at Royal Selangor Golf Club on 3 August, where medical professionals joined the discussion. On 25 July, MGA hosted a Community Golf Day at Kelab Golf Negara Subang, introducing golf to breast cancer survivors as part of their healing and rehabilitation journey.
Corporate Malaysia has responded with enthusiasm. Leading the charge is BHPetrol, which has launched a nationwide donation campaign across all its stations. Members of the public are encouraged to contribute any amount, with all proceeds channelled directly into the PPUM fund.
“Partnering with PPUM was a natural choice,” said Dato’ Merina Gan, Chairman of the MGA Women in Golf Charter. “Their commitment to early detection and support for underserved women aligns perfectly with our mission. This is not just about golf—this is about giving women a fighting chance.”

That mission was echoed by Prof. Madya Dr Azura Mansor from University of Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM), who shared the very real stakes behind the campaign. “The PPUM B40 Breast Cancer Diagnostic Fund enables us to provide timely diagnostics for women who would otherwise delay or forgo care due to financial hardship. Early detection saves lives, and this fund plays a critical role in bridging that gap.”
Support for Swing for Pink has also poured in from major sponsors including Yayasan Sultan Azlan Shah, Hong Leong Assurance, and PMI Berhad, alongside a strong roster of supporting partners such as Cuckoo Malaysia, Amanra Foundation, Weststar Group, Poh Kong Jewellers, and media outlets like BFM Radio and Bernama. The generosity has been matched with excitement: BAuto Management is offering a brand-new Mazda CX-30 2.0G worth RM139,000 as the Hole-in-One prize for the upcoming tournament.

As the campaign gathers pace, MGA urges the public to play their part, whether by donating at BHPetrol stations, signing up for the charity tournament, or simply sharing the message of “Swing for Pink” on social media. In bringing together sport, solidarity and social good, the initiative not only underscores the unifying power of golf but reaffirms a larger, shared goal: to ensure no woman is left behind in the fight against breast cancer.
