Mizuno ST190 Fairway Woods: Deeper Power

The ST190 fairway wood by Mizuno has a deeper and more powerful design compared to its predecessor, the ST180 model, combining a high energy HT1770 Maraging Steel face with a lower spin chassis.

Like the ST190 driver, the fairway equivalent is engineered using Mizuno’s Amplified Wave soleplate and boasts a carbon composite crown. These combine to increase ball speed, reduce spin and create greater forgiveness.

Technological Features

Deeper H1770 Maraging Steel Face: The ST190 fairway’s deeper clubface flexes more like a driver, maximising the ball speed produced by the high-energy H1770 Maraging Steel face.

Carbon Composite Crown: The use of ultra-lightweight carbon in the crown allows 4g of weight to be moved low within the clubhead. This allowed Mizuno’s engineers to create a rare combination of deeper clubface and efficient, low-spin ball flight.

Amplified Wave Soleplate: A larger first wave creates a balance of stability and sweet spot height, resulting in effective off-centre forgiveness without too much backspin.

Harmonic Impact Technology: The fairway’s powerful, solid sound is tuned through the study of vibration and sound waves.

“The ST190’s deeper face is not just useful from the tee … it also gives the clubface a larger frame that functions more
like a driver for higher ball speed,” said ST190 lead designer Kei Tsjui.

The ST190 fairway wood is available in 3-wood (15°) and 5-wood (18°), while the stock shaft is the Graphite Design Tour AD.
