Nine of the world’s top ten headline the HSBC Women’s World Championship

The HSBC Women’s World Championship is set to welcome an elite field to Sentosa Golf Club from February 27 to March 2. This year’s line-up includes nine of the World’s top ten, 19 major champions, 46 LPGA winners with a combined total of 174 titles, 21 Solheim Cup players with 45 appearances, six former world No.1s, and for the first time two Singaporean players.

The major champions in this year’s field collectively hold 27 titles, including four out of the five 2024 major winners, Yuka Saso (U.S. Women’s Open), Amy Yang (KPMG PGA Women’s Championship, Ayaka Furue (The Amundi Evian Championship, and Lydia Ko (AIG Women’s Open). Other notable major champions include two-time champion Brooke Henderson; Australia’s Minjee Lee, who holds two titles; Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn, also a two-time major champion; Japan’s Hinako Shibuno, winner of the 2019 AIG Women’s Open; and 2021 AIG Women’s Open champion Sophia Popov, who returns to the event for the first time since 2021 after welcoming her first child.

A total of 19 nationalities are represented in the field, including two Singaporeans set to compete for the first time in the event’s history, Shannon Tan, who received a sponsor’s invitation, and 16-year-old amateur Chen Xing Tong, who earned her spot by winning the National Qualifying Tournament for the second consecutive year.

One holding spot remains for the winner of the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand, provided they are not already exempt. If the winner is already in the field, a strong lineup of alternates awaits, including major champions Ashleigh Buhai and Anna Nordqvist.

Of the 16 editions, 14 have been won by major champions, a testament to the golfers’ claim that this is ‘Asia’s Major’. The 2024 field featured a diverse field, with players from 22 nationalities, including 20 Major champions and 8 of the world’s top 10.

The 72-hole stroke play tournament will once again be played on The Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, which hosts its 12th edition of the tournament.
