An outpouring of support and well wishes from the golf fraternity has inundated social media over the recent fire at Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, which caused extensive damage to its buggy fleet. No one was injured in the early morning blaze today, which is believed to have started in the lower level of the clubhouse where the buggies are stored.
The Golf Club Managers of Association of Malaysia noted on its Facebook page:
“Our sympathy and regrets for such a tragic incident. We wish Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club a quick recovery.”
Golf tour specialist Liberty Golf Services made a similar statement on Facebook:
“We wish all our friends at Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club steadfast and a speedy recovery on this.”
Numerous golfers also took to social media golf groups to express their shock and sadness at the incident.
According to news reports, the fire at the golf club broke out at around 2am this morning and was brought under control by fire engines from the vicinity roughly two hours later. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire & Rescue Department.
Established in 2016, Kota Seriemas offers a challenging 18-hole course which is a popular haunt for golfers not only from the surrounding areas but from the Klang Valley as well. The club has hosted numerous high-profile events including professional tournaments on the local PGM Tour.
This is the second fire at a golf club in recent months, following a clubhouse blaze at The Mines Resort & Golf Club on December 14.
