The first leg of the Poh Kong Ladies Golf Series 2.0 was successfully held on 3rd July 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. The event saw a turnout of a total of 120 ladies participating, including special appearances from Singaporean lady golfers, adding an international flair to the competition.
The highlight of the tournament was the exceptional performance by the overall champion, Amelia Lee, a remarkable 14-year-old golfer from Melaka. The 21-handicapper carded an impressive total of 43 points, showcasing her incredible talent and potential in the sport.
The tournament featured fierce competition across three categories. The top three winners in each category were as follows:
Category A:
- Leow Mee Yek – 40 points (on countback)
- Hooi Jia Qi – 40 points
- Jolene Wong – 37 points
Category B:
- Seongsoon Kim – 36 points (on countback)
- Datin Villain Phakdee Pan Soon – 36 points
- Jelena Loh – 35 points
Category C:
- Quinncie Choi – 42 points
- Violet Ai Fang Soh – 35 points
- Jinni Shi – 34 points
The first leg of the series not only highlighted the competitive spirit of the participants but also underscored the growing popularity and inclusivity of women’s golf in the region. The second leg of the Poh Kong Ladies Golf Series 2.0 will be held at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club on 15th October 2024.
