PPGS and KGNS strengthen commitment to inclusive golf development

After over 50 years of negotiation, Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) successfully signed the Sub-Lease Agreement & Management Agreement with Perbadanan Padang Golf Subang (PPGS) — witnessed by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports, allowing the club to operate the golf course until 2055.

PPGS, a Federal Statutory Body under the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), owns the land on which the golf course is situated and is responsible for its regulation and management. Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS), a company appointed by PPGS, has been managing and administering Subang Golf Course since 1971.

The agreement was signed by Y.A.M. Tunku Puteri Tunku Dato’ Seri Jawahir binti Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar Al Haj, Deputy Chairman of PPGS, and YBhg. Dato’ Donald Lim, President of KGNS, with Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh witnessing the ceremony.

In line with the government’s vision for inclusive sports development, the agreement introduces several initiatives aimed at benefiting the public:

  • Access for Schools: KGNS will open its facilities for official school programs, providing students with opportunities to engage in golf and other sports.
  • Training for National Athletes: The golf course, driving range, and other amenities will be available for use by national golfers and athletes to support their training.
  • Government Discounts: PPGS will receive special discounts for the use of KGNS facilities for official government activities and programs.
  • Golf Development Funding: Revenue from KGNS billboard rentals will be allocated to junior golf development programs, fostering young talent in the sport.
  • Community Initiatives: Additional programs benefiting the local community will be introduced under the agreement.

YB Hannah Yeoh emphasised the importance of maintaining the course as a public sports facility to continue serving the community. She also encouraged KGNS to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as a gesture of appreciation for the government’s ongoing cooperation and support.

This agreement marks a new chapter in the collaboration between PPGS and KGNS, reinforcing their shared commitment to growing golf in Malaysia while making the sport more inclusive and accessible.
