The Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGAM) succeeded in raising RM24,500 from the inaugural PGAM Invitational Pro-Am, staged at TPC Kuala Lumpur on April 1.

The money will be used to help fund the association’s activities, whch include new efforts to create public engagement programs. The entry fee was RM5,000 per flight of three, who were teamed up with a PGAM professional.

“We are quite happy with how the PGAM Invitational Pro-Am turned out. This was the first time we organised a pro-am and of course there’s room for improvement, but generally all our guests were happy with the event,” said PGAM president CM Chong.

“The PGAM would like to express our utmost gratitude to all those who supported the event. We plan to organise another fundraiser after Hari Raya as we need the money to organise activities and programmes for our members,” he added.

Chong was elected as the new PGAM president in February. The association currently has a membership base of around 300, comprising slightly over 100 touring pros and the rest made up of vocational (teaching) pros.
