The final round of the SUKMA Golf Competition at Kelab Golf Sarawak ended with exhilarating performances from the country’s top amateur golfers. The event highlighted the outstanding talent of Malaysia’s young athletes, with Sarawak’s Mirabel Ting and Anson Yeo capturing gold in their respective divisions.

Mirabel Ting of Sarawak capped off her dominant performance in the women’s division with a final round of 2-under-par 70, bringing her three-day total to 10-under-par 206. Ting’s consistency throughout the tournament secured her the gold medal.

Reflecting on her win, Mirabel Ting said, “Winning gold here in Sarawak means everything to me. I played with confidence and trusted my game. I’m grateful for the support from my family, teammates, and the entire Sarawak community.”

 

Perak’s Wang Xin Yao took home the silver medal with a strong finish, carding a final round of 70 for an even-par 216 total. KL’s Ng Jing Xuen earned the bronze medal, finishing with a 2-over-par 218 after rounds of 73, 71, and 74.

 

Sarawak’s Anson Yeo won the gold medal in the men’s division

In the men’s division, Sarawak’s Anson Yeo emerged victorious with a final score of 6-under-par 210 after rounds of 71, 68, and 71. Yeo’s composed and focused play throughout the tournament earned him the gold medal, delighting the local crowd.

 

Anson Yeo commented on his victory, stating, “This win is incredibly special to me. Competing and winning in front of my home crowd has been an unforgettable experience. I stayed patient and focused, and I’m thrilled to bring home the gold for Sarawak.”

 

Selangor’s Ajmal Amin, who had an extraordinary second round, secured the silver medal with a total score of 3-under-par 213. Despite a challenging final round, his earlier performances kept him in contention. Perak’s Andrew Yap claimed the bronze medal after carding 1-over-par 217, winning on countback.

 

In the women’s team event, Team Perak clinched the gold medal with a combined score of 676. The team, comprising Wang Xin Yao (73, 73, 70), Nur Diana Syafiqah (78, 73, 74), Siti Nur Husna (81, 74, 80), and Nurul Adawiyah (86, 78, 90), delivered a strong performance across all three days.

 

Team Selangor earned the silver medal with a combined score of 688, narrowly edging out Team Sarawak, who also scored 688 but lost on countback (OCB). Selangor’s team was represented by Foong Zi Yu (77, 72, 76), Kaathiyayani (81, 76, 83), Batrisyia Balqis (75, 78, 80), and Aarthi Ganesan (82, 80, 73). Team Sarawak’s efforts were led by Mirabel Ting (69, 67, 70), Sharifah Aiysyah (77, 80, 79), and Abigail Kedung (85, 79, 82).

 

Team Selangor won the gold medal in the men’s team event. Led by Ajmal Amin , Poon Jia Hao, Austin Gan, and Ezekiel Riz Hafi

In the men’s team event, Team Selangor secured the gold medal with a total score of 659. The team was represented by Ajmal Amin (74, 63, 76), Poon Jia Hao (76,70, 76), Austin Gan (76, 78, 71), and Ezekiel Riz Hafi (75, 80, 79). Team Sarawak took the silver medal with a score of 666, while Team Perak claimed the bronze with a score of 669.
