Shahriffuddin Ariffin returned to the winner’s circle after producing another impressive round to capture the PGM Penang Closed Championship at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort.

The Malaysian professional, fondly known as “Dino”, carded seven birdies against a lone bogey on the second hole to finish atop the leaderboard and claim the winner’s cheque of RM31,500.

“I played well today, but Amir was putting pressure on me throughout most of the round,” said Shahriffuddin. “I’m happy to be back winning again. My schedule will be busy over the next few weeks as I’m heading to Taiwan for my next tournament.”

Edven Ying mounted a spirited challenge with a brilliant six-under-par final round but fell just short of forcing a playoff. He finished tied for second alongside Amir Nazrin on 14-under-par, as Shahriffuddin held firm to secure the title.

In the Ladies Championship, Liyana Durisic produced a superb comeback, overturning a three-shot deficit entering the final round to win by two strokes.

“I focused too much on the technical aspects of my swing yesterday,” said Liyana. “Today, I relaxed, trusted my game and played more freely. That made all the difference.”

Zulaikah Nasser finished runner-up on five-over-par after leading heading into the final day.

The PGM Penang Closed Championship offered a total prize purse of RM180,000, while the Ladies Championship carried RM30,000 in prize money. The tournament was played on the par-72 Hill Course at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort.
