Shahriffuddin Ariffin and amateur golfer Anson Yeo surged to the top of the leaderboard in the opening round of the PGM Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy at Saujana Golf & Country Club’s Bunga Raya course, carding impressive rounds of five-under-par 67.
Trailing by a single stroke at four-under-par 68 are amateur Aiden Kei, Carl Lund, and Nor Heikal Hadi, positioning themselves firmly in contention for the RM180,000 prize purse.
Defending champion Galven Green posted a one-under-par 71, while 2023 winner Danny Chia finished the day at even par.
Shahriffuddin recorded six birdies against a single bogey, expressing confidence in his game and eyeing a low score in the second round. Meanwhile, Yeo played a flawless, bogey-free round, showcasing remarkable consistency.

In the Ladies Championship, Liyana Durisic set the pace with a three-under-par 69. Winnie Ng and Saujana GCC’s H.Y. Bang sit just one stroke behind at two-under-par 70, setting the stage for a tightly contested battle for the RM30,000 prize.
A total of nine professional women and 87 professional men are competing in the tournament at the Bunga Raya course.
