In the 2021 Z-Star Series, Srixon’s R&D team has pushed every feature to its limit to achieve ultimate performance from tee to green. Featuring striking new packaging designs, the latest genesis of the premium tour performance range is hailed as the best yet from the innovative Japanese manufacturer.
The seventh generation Z-Star’s 0.6mm cover is thicker than previous generations for enhanced spin and control around the greens, paired with the revolutionary FastLayer Core that dramatically increases ball speed for maximum distance.
The new Z-Star XV has a reformulated inner core for heightened resilience, leading to improved ball speed and distance without sacrificing feel. This allows players to push their distance to the limit and enjoy high levels of greenside control.
Both models feature new Spin Skin technology with Slide-Ring Material (SeRM), a urethane compound that coats the cover of every Z-Star Series ball. By taking unprecedented levels of shearing force without breaking its molecular bonds, Spin Skin with SeRM is able to dig deep into the wedge and iron grooves to dramatically increase spin for more control and stopping power.
Meanwhile, the 338 Speed Dimple Pattern improves overall aerodynamics for better flight performance even in the toughest wind conditions.

KEY INNOVATIONS
New FastLayer Core:
The FastLayer Core starts soft in the centre and gradually becomes firm around its edge, giving high-speed players exceptional feel and enhanced ball speed for maximum distance.
FastLayer is created using a special heat treatment that bakes speed into the outer edges of the core, leaving the inside satisfyingly soft. The transition from soft to firm happens gradually, giving consistent performance shot-to-shot.
New Spin Skin with Slide-Ring Material: Generating even more spin and control, Srixon’s Spin Skin coating is an additional layer of urethane which is only a few microns thick but uses Slide-Ring Material (SeRM) to increase friction on chips and pitches.
SeRM has a strengthened molecular structure that employs moveable cross-linking, where the molecular chains slide freely through a series of microscopic pulleys to distribute forces evenly so they’re less likely to break. The result is a durable coating that digs into the wedge and iron grooves at impact, increasing friction and maximising greenside spin.
New 338 Speed Dimple Pattern: With new, deeper dimensions, the redesigned 338 Speed Dimples on each Z-Star Series golf ball punch through air for a penetrating launch. After launch, the dimples generate lift, driving the ball upward and maximising glide distance during descent.
When conditions get tough and the winds reach high speeds, the Speed Dimples’ low drag coefficient helps slice through the moving air to stay on target in crosswinds and maintain distance in headwinds.
