The 2024 PNC Championship, scheduled for December 19–22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes, promises an exciting showcase of golf legends and family connections. Headlined by returning stars and debuting champions, the tournament brings together 20 major champions alongside their loved ones for a unique 36-hole scramble event.
World No. 1 Nelly Korda will make her fourth appearance at the PNC Championship, teaming up with her father, Petr Korda, a former Australian Open tennis champion. The father-daughter duo has delivered strong performances in previous years, including a tied 13th finish in 2023.
“I’m so excited to be back at the PNC Championship this year,” said Korda. “Teaming up with my dad is always so much fun, and competing alongside legends makes this week unforgettable.”
LPGA icon Annika Sorenstam returns for her fifth appearance, playing for the third time with her 13-year-old son, Will. Last year, the duo finished tied for 11th, marking Sorenstam’s best result at the event.
“Will and I have been looking forward to this all year,” said Sorenstam. “The PNC Championship is about creating memories, and seeing Will thrive under pressure is a joy.”
Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters champion, will team up with his 16-year-old stepson, Hunter Hannemann. Couples expressed excitement for their first PNC experience: “It’s a special event we’ve followed for years, and sharing this moment with Hunter is incredible.”
2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman joins the field with his 18-year-old son, Jacob. “Jacob was with me as I captained the Presidents Cup, but playing together inside the ropes is on another level,” said Immelman.
Defending champions Bernhard Langer and his son Jason will aim to retain their title against a stacked lineup, including past winners like John Daly and his son John Daly II, and Vijay Singh with son Qass. Golfing legends like Gary Player, Sir Nick Faldo, and Lee Trevino will also compete, showcasing the event’s rich history.
Other notable participants include David Duval and son Brady, Stewart Cink and son Connor, Matt Kuchar and son Carson, Steve Stricker and daughter Izzi, Tom Lehman and son Sean. Mark O’Meara, recently retired from professional golf, and his son Shaun will add to the nostalgia, while newcomers like Couples and Immelman inject fresh excitement.
In its 13th year under PNC Bank’s sponsorship, the event celebrates the bonds of family and the legacy of champions. Originating in 1995 with just 10 teams, the tournament now attracts a world-class field of 20 major winners paired with family members.
Qualifying players must hold a major or The Players Championship title, while their partners cannot hold professional Tour status. Competing for the Willie Park Trophy, the teams will showcase camaraderie and talent, all while entertaining fans worldwide.
The tournament will air live on NBC, GOLF Channel, and Peacock, featuring a lineup that spans golfing history, from 1959 champions to contemporary stars. With only 20 coveted spots, the PNC Championship remains a cherished highlight of the golfing calendar.
As Nelly Korda aptly said, “There’s no better way to end the year than sharing the course with family and legends.”
