adidas continues to showcase its commitment to sustainability with a fun-filled day of golf and exciting activities in this year’s adidas Golf Day at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
Over 100 golfers comprising members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme, adidas customers and invited guests teed off at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s East Course. Each player received an adidas Textured Jacquard Golf Polo, adidas golf performance cap, adidas Microfiber Players Golf Towel, and adidas SMU Pouch – all gathered neatly in an adidas shopper bag.
More than just the perfect day to play a round of golf, participants also had the opportunity to learn more about the brand’s ‘End Plastic Waste’ through multiple innovative on-course activations.
“In adidas we are very committed to ending plastic waste, so we incorporated a few activation areas that showcase our efforts and we encourage everyone to join our movement to end plastic waste,” said Ken Sim, adidas Golf’s Head of Marketing for Southeast Asia.
With the exception of the novelty contest, among the fun activation activities that highlighted adidas’ sustainability efforts were the Golf Pong on hole 17 and Interactive Sustainability Photo at hole 15. In addition to those, there were the CodeChaos – Spin The Wheel on hole 5 and Challenge The Pro activity also on hole 17.
In the Golf Pong area, golfers were challenged to hit plastic bottles into four large barrels. Those who were successful in landing a bottle into any barrels were rewarded with an adidas Play Green Bag Tag.
The Interactive Sustainability Photo Hole on the 15th was the buzzing highlight of the round, as golfers were invited to pose free-style with the End Plastic Waste props next to the teebox.
In addition to Golf Pong on the 17th, golfers were also able to test their skills against adidas Ambassadors and golf professionals CM Chong and Roger Loo in the Challenge The Pro activity. Each golfer who was successful in placing their tee shot closer to the pin than the two professionals, who took turns to play the hole against each flight, was rewarded with an adidas Cooler Bag and adidas marker.
At the ‘CodeChaos – Spin The Wheel’ hole, golfers who landed their tee shot on the green of the 5th were allowed to spin the wheel and bring home either a key chain, water bottle, or ball marker.
Joining in the fun and festivities were adidas Golf’s Commercial Director for Southeast Asia and Pacific, Tan Ying Sze, adidas Golf Malaysia’s Senior Manager for Commercial and Exports, Eileen Fong, adidas Golf’s Head of Marketing for Southeast Asia, Ken Sim, MST Golf Group Berhad Executive Chairman KP Low and Executive Director of MST Golf Singapore James Pang, along with numerous adidas Golf ambassadors.
Alex Yau emerged as the winner on countback with a System 36 Nett Stableford score of 38 points. He took home an adidas Golf cart bag, Tour360 Twin BOA spikeless shoes, and an adidas product voucher worth RM2,500.
Dato Rosdin Mohd Yusup and San Norarjuna Wan Mustafa also scored 38 points and were placed second and third respectively following a countback. They both won adidas Golf cart bags, Twin BOA Golf shoes, and adidas product vouchers.
The novelty holes saw Shahrul Nizam Kamarudin topping the Nearest To Pin contest at Hole 7 with a shot just 8 feet from the pin, while Mohd Nazif was only three feet and one inch to claim the other Nearest To Pin challenge on Hole 15. Both players won adidas Golf bags.
However, none of the participants were to score an ace on any par-threes and claim the Hole-In-One prize of adidas Golf products worth RM12,000.
As the exciting day ended, the lucky draw added a good touch of excitement with prizes including a variety of adidas Golf bags and complimentary green fees for a round at Kelab Golf Negara Subang and Glenmarie Golf & Country Club.
