Malaysia’s Kelly Tan remains upbeat despite a disappointing closing round at the Symetra Tour’s Guardian Championship yesterday, which dropped her from the top spot into T14 position.
Tan closed with a 75, 13 strokes more than the career-best 62 she recorded in Round 2 at Capitol Hill Golf Club in Prattville, Alabama.
“I just didn’t hit it to the right spots today; sill hit 17 greens and when they are that big, you’re going to hit a lot of greens. I just missed things by a couple of yards, even the last hole, then you have like a 50- and 60-foot putt. Put myself in bad spots on the greens,” said Tan, who finished with a total of seven-under-par 209 (72-62-75).
“I know I’m striking the ball good, just a couple yards off. I will keep at it and stay patient … the putts will drop,” added the 25-year-old.
With two events left to play, Tan is in 32nd position in the latest Volvik Race for the Card standings with US$36,920 in winnings. The top 10 players at the end of the season will earn LPGA cards for 2020.
Tan is an ambassador for The Els Club Malaysia and is also sponsored by Mazda Malaysia and J.Lindeberg.
