Like all public golf courses, Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club had to endure challenging times with close to seven weeks of zero revenue during the shutdown imposed by the Movement Control Order from March 18.

Now that golf has resumed at the popular 27-hole course in the township of Bandar Tasik Puteri with its reopening on May 5, general manager Kevyn Lee noted that business has been better month-on-month compared to Ramadan in 2019 but that they were hampered by the social distancing protocol of single buggy usage.
“Because of single buggy usage, we are limited to 24 flights per session with our current fleet of 90 buggies. This means that we actually had to turn away golfers, especially on weekends,” said Lee, adding that they can do up to 45 flights per session with twin-sharing buggies.

Lee noted that investing in additional buggies is not something that is on the table at the moment.
“We just finished renovating our changing rooms and the main aim now is to recoup the losses during the shutdown,” he said. “Hopefully we can revert to twin-sharing buggies soon so that we increase traffic and revenue.”
In the meantime, golfers playing at Tasik Puteri are enjoying a great deal with the Ramadan package priced at RM111 nett on weekdays, R183 nett on weekend and public holiday mornings, and RM133 nett on weekend and public holiday afternoons, covering green fee, single buggy and insurance.
“The golf course is in good condition overall and our greens are healthy. We only did minimal maintenance during the shutdown but our greenkeeping team worked extra hard to get the course ready once we knew that golf would be allowed to resume in Selangor,” stressed Lee.

“Our F&B is operating as well but of course we enforce social distancing seating and sanitisation. The new changing rooms are open but we limit usage to 16 golfers at a time. The driving range is quite busy but the bays are spaced out more to ensure that golfers don’t get too close to each other,” he added.
