Close to 100 golfers enjoyed a great day out in the MST Golf Srixon ilovegolf Tournament, staged at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort on October 19, 2022.
The event was held exclusively for members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme, who were joined at Tropicana by Dunlop Srixon Sports Asia Managing Director Takuya Ono, MST Golf Managing Director KP Low and other invitees.
One of the highlights of the event was that each and every player received a Srixon SMU Stand Bag along with a sleeve of Srixon Q-Star golf balls.
The participants were greeted by superb course conditions as they teed off shotgun-style under cloudy morning skies.
At the end of play, Alex Yau was the player who managed to figure out the fast and tricky Tropicana greens best, signing in a System 36 Nett Stableford score of 39 points to top the standings. For his victory, Yau took home a Cleveland Launcher XL driver and a dozen Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf balls.
Runner-up honours went to Kevin Chang with 38 points, edging third-placed Jung Young Guk and three other golfers on countback. Chang won himself a Cleveland Launcher XL Halo fairway wood and Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf balls, while Jung’s prizes were a Cleveland Launcher XL Halo hybrid and Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf balls.
The novelty holes saw rare ties in two contests. Mohamad Fauzi Che Hayun and Abdul Muhaymin both hit tee shots that stopped 10 feet and seven inches from the flag at Hole 3 to jointly win the Nearest To Pin competition. They took home Srixon Z-Star golf balls and a RM400 MST Golf voucher each.
The other tie came in the Nearest To Line contest at Hole 7, where the drives of both Steven Saw and Rick Choy landed right on the line to win them a Srixon Boston Bag each.
The Longest Drive contest at Hole 18 produced a clear winner in Muhammad Waliyuddin Mohd Sukree, who smashed a buggy track-assisted drive of 300 metres to win a Cleveland Launcher XL Halo fairway wood and a RM400 MST Golf voucher.
The hole-in-one prize of a set of Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons was offered at all four par-threes but, unfortunately, no one managed to score an ace on the day. In a generous move, Takuya Ono transferred the irons to the lucky draw.
The lucky draw saw 21 participants get picked to win Srixon and XXIO products, Garmin Approach golf watches and, as the main prize, the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo iron set.
