The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2022 concludes successfully at Seri Selangor Golf Club

The fourth edition of Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament was played recently on 23 July, 2022 at the Seri Selangor Golf Club in Kota Damansara. The 132 golfers who participated in the one-day event came from various backgrounds and countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Japan, United Kingdom, Korea, and Singapore. The field also included expats, travel agents, interstate and domestic players, celebrities, golfing notables and representatives from the public and private sectors.

The 18-hole tournament is held annually in different parts of Selangor as part of the “Pusing Selangor Dulu” tourism initiative was officiated with a tee-off by Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor. This year’s event at Seri Selangor was won by Muhammad Hisham Abdullah who accumulated 41 Stableford points.

In their endeavour to promote the state, Tourism Selangor made numerous improvements to this year’s golf tournament, including the introduction of the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign, the preparation of the tournament trophy, offering lucky draw prizes worth RM200,000, and the addition of the Produa Ativa as the hole-In-one prize. There was also a cultural show by the Mah Meri indigenous cultural group and the Bale-Bale group.

Y.B. Hee Loy Sian, Selangor State’s Executive Council Member of Tourism and Environment in a statement shared, “This golf tournament’s journey is inspired by the concept of ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’, where we organise tournaments in different locations each year. The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament is also a way to show support for Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), which is also celebrating its 16th anniversary this year. With the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ idea, we encourage participants to not only demonstrate their golfing skills, but also visit the tourism sites around the golf course we choose each year. For instance, there are several tourist attractions like the Chocolate Museum in Kota Damansara, Kidzania, The Curve, 1 Utama, and Tropicana Gardens at our event location.”

There are 29 golf clubs in Selangor, several of which are award-winning, and the state has a clear path to optimal sports tourist penetration. Selangor, Malaysia’s leading and premier golf hub, is a popular destination for both local and international golfers looking for a little of adrenaline and excitement on the course, surrounded by lush greenery.

This year, the fourth edition of the golf tournament gained considerable support and sponsorship from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) and SELGATE Corporation, with the intention of enhancing the organisation’s brand via Golf Tourism in Selangor.

Golf has enormous potential in the state of Selangor, which has been recognised both in Malaysia and globally. Selangor is a popular destination for golfing visitors from China, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, and South Korea.
