The countdown to the return of the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers begins

Tickets for the US$5 million PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers opened to the public in mid-December as the Kingdom’s sole Tour professional Othman Almulla alongside high-flying amateurs Faisal Salhab, Saud Al Sharif and Abdulrahman AlMansour got together recently to mark the 50-day countdown for the tournament’s return in February.

All eyes now turn to King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), and the arrival of the world’s best golfers for the famous tournament’s now fourth annual hosting. Salhab was the recent winner of the Saudi Open at Riyadh Golf Club who earned his qualification to the Saudi International, joining Almulla in KAEC in the new year.

Taking place at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, by the Red Sea, the February 3-6th 2022 contest will be the event’s first as part of the Asian Tour, following the recent announcement of a ten-year partnership between the Tour and Golf Saudi.

That has helped bump the tournament’s prize fund from US$3.5million to a mammoth US$5million, with a superstar-packed field set to descend on the Kingdom earlier next year.

Players confirmed include reigning and two-time Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers champion, Dustin Johnson, big-hitting US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, plus Major winners Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson, Shane Lowry and Bubba Watson and a host of other international stars.

For Othman Almulla, Saudi Arabia’s first-ever professional golfer, the excitement is already building, as he and Salhab prepare themselves to represent the Kingdom once again in front of what they hope will be a sea of Saudi supporters.

Almulla said, “This is why we play golf and push ourselves in practice every day, to be able to test ourselves against the best players on the planet – and make no mistake, those golfers coming to Saudi Arabia in February are the very best of the best!

“The impact the Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers – and the Saudi Ladies International – have had on golf here in the Kingdom is seismic. The game is growing like never before, something we saw at the Saudi Open. It’s incredible to see, and I can’t wait for more Saudis to experience their first taste of golf at Royal Greens in February.”
