The SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2024 wrapped up with an impressive showcase of skill and competitive energy across all age categories. Taking place from October 25th to 27th at Tanjong Puteri Golf & Resort, the event made a comeback after a four-year break, with its last edition held in 2019. This year, 143 players, including 66 international competitors, took part in the championship.
In the Boys A category, Thailand’s Ajalawich Anantasethakul delivered an impressive performance, finishing with a score of 217 (72–72–73) despite rainy weather. His exceptional play earned him the best player title across both Boys A and B groups.
However, the Boys A Champion title went to South Korea’s Ahn Seunghyun (Michael), who finished with a score of 222 (71–76–75). Due to tournament rules limiting players to one prize, Ajalawich’s overall title made him ineligible for the Boys A champion prize, allowing Ahn to take top honours.
In the Girls A category, Malaysia’s Wang Xin Yao emerged as the overall champion with an impressive score of 220 (73–73–74). Her strong performance throughout the tournament highlighted her determination and skill. South Korea’s Seo Ahreumnuri, finishing with a score of 226 (72–77–77), claimed the Girls A Champion title as runner-up.
In the Team Championship, Thailand secured the champion title with a total score of 674, while NJDP – Malaysian Golf Association took the runner-up spot with 678 points. Prizes were awarded to the top five winners from each category and the best overall players. A fun-filled putting competition for nine-hole participants added to the event’s success, with Bridgestone golf items awarded to category winners.
As part of the tournament’s rewards, the top two players from Boys and Girls A & B groups received direct entries to the Mazda U.S. College Prep Championship at Black Mountain Golf Club, Thailand, in November 2024. Twelve winners from that event will qualify for the prestigious Future Champions Golf (FCG) National Junior Golf Championship in San Diego, California, this December. Additionally, the top two players in each category (A, B, C, D, and E for both boys and girls) will gain entry to the FCG Callaway Championship in San Diego in July 2025.
